  • Ulu (Breadfruit) Flour 100% Gluten Free

What is ulu and how do I use it?
Ulu is the Samoan word for breadfruit. When cooked, the fruit has a starchy texture and fragrance that is reminiscent of freshly baked bread. Ulu flour is hugely versatile and when baking, you can simply substitute 1 cup of ulu for 1 cup of flour, which makes it unique. A traditional favourite in Jamaica as porridge, ulu can be used to thicken soups, and is great in smoothies and shakes. There are numerous culinary uses for this 100% gluten-free product.

For more ideas on how to use Ulu flour, visit our Recipe section here on our website or visit our facebook and instagram page @maidensouthpacific.

  • Raw Fermented Coconut Oil Skin Care

What is this and how do I use it?
Our fermented coconut oil is made from certified-organic coconuts grown on small, sustainable farms in Samoa and has long been held in high regard as a natural beauty treatment. When rubbed on the skin, it penetrates deep into the cells, rejuvenating them and leaving the skin looking and feeling silky smooth. It is also a highly efficient make-up remover and lip balm.

    How is it made?
Coconut flesh is grated to extract the milk, which is fermented for 24-48 hours to allow the oil and milk to naturally separate.  The oil is then carefully filtered to produce a high-quality product.

Why choose raw fermented coconut oil?

    •    Coconut oil limits the amount of microbes on the skin, prohibiting conditions such as psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections
    •    Improves the quality and appearance of skin by eliminating dead skin cells and reducing flaking skin

  • Raw Fermented Coconut Oil for Cooking

What is it and how do I use it?
Our fermented coconut oil is made from certified-organic coconuts grown on small, sustainable farms in Samoa and is a healthy alternative to butter and other fats in baking and cooking. With its high smoke point and soft delicate coconut taste, it is an excellent and healthy alternative to other cooking oils. Also one of few coconut oils that you can consume pleasantly and leaving wanting more.

    How is it made?
Coconut flesh is grated to extract the milk, which is fermented for 24-48 hours to allow the oil and milk to naturally separate.  The oil is then carefully filtered to produce a high-quality product. Making our product higher in antioxidants compared to cold pressed oils.

    What are the health benefits?

    • medium chain fatty acids or triglycerides. When applied on the skin, they keep it smooth to the touch
    • Due to the presence of these fats, coconut oil also retains the moisture content of the skin, as the fats eliminate moisture loss through the pores on skin
    • Capric, caprylic, and lauric acids from the coconut oil are easily broken down chains of fatty acids, meaning that they contribute to usable energy in a quick and efficient way, therefore improving your energy
    • The contributions of vitamin-E towards skin care are well known. It is essential for healthy skin growth, repair of wear & tear on the skin, keeping skin smooth and protecting against cracking
    • Prevents premature aging and wrinkling of the skin, since it has good antioxidant properties. 100 grams of coconut oil has about 0.1 mg of vitamin E, thus enhancing it skin-nourishing properties
    • Coconut oil is rich in many proteins. These proteins keep skin healthy and rejuvenated, both internally and externally. Proteins also contribute to cellular health and tissue repair
    • For any damaged cells on or near the skin, a healthy of flow of proteins guarantees their replacement

Yes, please feel free to contact us.

What is the difference between products made in Asia and in the South Pacific?

What is happening in agriculture in Samoa and other South Pacific nations?
Currently we are experiencing an increase in international interest in our agricultural farming industry and international companies are looking to establish factories in the Pacific. We hope they prioritise sustainability. We will continue doing what we love on a small scale.
